Marcus Fratkin wins the 6th National Master Gerald Ferriol Blitz Chess Tournament
Marcus Fratkin emerged victorious at the 6th National Master Gerald Ferriol Blitz Chess Tournament, held on last June 29, 2025 at GMG Chess Club, Binan, with an impressive score of 4.5/5 together with Joseph Balmaceda and secured the title via superior Buchholz.
Throughout the tournament, Marcus's speed, tactical skill, experienced, resilience and unwavering composure were evident in his gameplay. In the third round, the crucial match against two strong opponents, Fratkin and Balmaceda which ended in a draw. At the last round, both Fratkin and Balmaceda were hungry to win and won the game and ended in tie for a champion. Fratkin achieved the title via superior superior Buchholz of 14 than Balmaceda's 12.5. His noteworthy victories those wins against Jose Puyo, Dierel Garcia and Gilson Manaig.

A very nice atmosphere, it was fully-airconed inside the mall, a lot of chess fanatics eagerly watching each move as strategies unfolded on the board. This event not only highlighted the competitive spirit of chess but also fostered a sense of community among players and fans alike.
