Is P3000 tournament director’s fee for personal gain using the association name reasonable or not?
First, let's start with chess tournament. The community chess tournament aims to bring together chess enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds to foster learning, strategic thinking, and community spirit. This event enhance the strength of chess players and gain financial benefits later on like varsity player, chess coach, trainer etc.
Second, as chess organization, we organize and promote chess events like tournaments, workshops, and exhibitions to increase interest and participation. Collaborate with other clubs (example all cities and municipalities under provincial organization) makes tournament better.
Now, let's go to the main point. Guess who, someone who proposed a chess tournament.

As you can see in the tournament proposal, there was a tournament director fee of P3000 which is reasonable in some cases, like requesting in well-known establishment but not in individual who are not so rich. For me P3000 in this case, is selfish motivation using one's organization, we must act in behalf of organization. Also 7 arbiters are unreasonable, in FIDE manual, 1 arbiter = 30 players but in some cases up to 50 players. 210 - 350 players is suprising. Also, the questionable 16 people? And last the approximate more than P20,000 registration fees that will be pocketed.

Overall, the proposal is questionable for someone sponsoring a chess tournament.
A well-organized chess tournament can provide significant societal benefits, transparency, social, and cultural growth within the community than personal interest. Through strategic partnerships (with provincial and city chess clubs) and community support, this initiative can inspire positive change and foster a sense of unity and shared purpose (not one's interest only).
By mapping these steps, the chess tournament can become a cherished monthly event that delivers lasting benefits to society. If you'd like more detailed guidance on any specific aspect, feel free to ask!
