Apollo Agapay wins 1st MSBCS 2100 Open Tournament 2025

In a stunning display of tactical prowess and unwavering focus, Apollo Agapay emerged victorious at The 1st MSBCS 2100 Open Tournament 2025 last February 23, 2025 at
Victory Mall, Sta Rosa City, Laguna. He clinched the championship title with an impressive score of 5.5/6 points.

His victory was characterized by an unblemished record through the first 4 matches (4/4), with Michael John Daep, Christopher Cristobal, Marie Kathleen Acosta, Wayne Diaz Ruiz where he exhibited strategic brilliance and captured full points against each of his opponents.

In what was arguably the most pivotal game, his penultimate match ended in a draw with 2nd placed Joemarie Villa Delgado, securing his top spot in the tournament with a half-point lead and win his last round with Jonathan Javier, this strategic draw not only showcased his astute endgame management but also demonstrated his maturity in ensuring tournament victory without unnecessary risk.

A very nice atmosphere where some watching each move as strategies unfolded on the board. This event not only highlighted the competitive spirit of chess but also fostered a sense of community among players and fans alike.

Both fans and fellow competitors celebrated his well-earned victory, recognizing his position among the elite players in the chess community.
