Mikhail Laoagan wins 1st MSBCS 2100 Open Blitz Tournament 2025

In the final dramatic conclusion marked by intense tension, Mikhail Laoagan emerged victorious at the 1st MSBCS 2100 Open Blitz Tournament 2025 last February 23, 2025 at Victory Mall, Sta Rosa City, Laguna, overcoming in a tiebreak situation.

Throughout the tournament, Mikhail's speed, tactical sharpness, determination, and unwavering composure were evident in his game play. His victory was characterized by an unblemished record through the first 4 matches (4/4), with Lexxus Draei David, Julian Miguel Caceres, Wayne Diaz Ruiz, Jonathan Javier captured full points against each of his opponents.

In what was arguably the most pivotal game, his final match ended in a draw with 4th placed Apollo Agapay (the Champion in the rapid event). As he obtained 4.5/5 points together with Christian Ace Alcira, both hungry for triumph. However, it was Mikhail’s superior Buchholz tiebreak with 15 points over Alcira's 14.5 points.

A very nice atmosphere where some watching each move as strategies unfolded on the board. This event not only highlighted the competitive spirit of chess but also fostered a sense of community among players and fans alike.

The caliber of competition highlights Mikhail's achievement, as he ranks at the top among such a tough lineup. Both fans and fellow competitors celebrated his well-earned victory, recognizing his position among the elite players in the chess community.
