Ricardo Manliclic wins Koko Pimentel Marikina Christmas Senior Chess Festival 2024

 

Ricardo Manliclic emerged victorious at the Koko Pimentel Marikina Christmas Senior Chess Festival 2024, held on last December 28-29, 2024 at Ayala Mall Felis, Marikina, with an impressive score of 6/7 together with Ricardo B. Alvarado and secured the title via winner over the other tiebreak, demonstrating consistent performance throughout the tournament. His noteworthy victories included wins against Ricardo Alvarado, Crispin Lambino, and Salvador Dela Paz.

Ricardo B. Alvarado secured second place, also with 6/7 points, but was edged out on tie-breaks. He delivered strong performances, particularly in the middle rounds, with key wins against Cables and Nepomuceno.

Edmundo Obelidor claimed third place with 5.5 points. His strategic prowess was evident with victories over Abakan and Dela Paz, contributing to his high standing.

A very nice atmosphere, it was fully-airconed inside the mall, a lot of chess fanatics eagerly watching each move as strategies unfolded on the board. This event not only highlighted the competitive spirit of chess but also fostered a sense of community among players and fans alike.

The Koko Pimentel Marikina Christmas Open Chess Festival 2024 is considered one of the premier chess events of 2024. It underscored the competitive spirit and deep strategic play among senior players, with each participant bringing their unique style and expertise to the board.
