WFM Cherry Ann Mejia leads the PSC - NCFP Men's Selection Chess Championship Grand Finals

 

The PSC - NCFP Women's Selection Chess Championship Grand Finals are proving to be an exciting and intense competition which take place at PACE, Quezon City from December 17-21, 2024. After three rounds, WFM Cherry Ann Mejia is showing remarkable skill, defeating Devine Grace Luna, Samatha Umayan and drew with her contender Kate Nicole Ordizo in the third round. Cherry Ann, Kate Nicole Ordizo and Mhage Gerriahlou Sebastian have accumulated a score of 2.5/3, putting them at the forefront of this prestigious 10-round robin match.

In the diagram WFM Mejia starts the nice combination with Black exposed King. 13. Nxd5!?

After Black played 13..Nxd5, White played a brilliant 14. Be4!, Black can't capture the Be4 because of the Re1 pin. Many threats removing the defender Nc6, Re1 pin etc. And later on converted to win
