Coach NM Gerald Ferriol finished seventh at the 16th Kamatyas FIDE Open Chess Tournament

Coach NM Gerald Ferriol finished seventh at the 16th Kamatyas FIDE Open Chess Tournament on August 02, 2025 at the Vista Mall, Sta Rosa, Laguna. He witnessed a remarkable performance with an impressive score of 5.5/7 together with IM Paulo Bersamina, IM Emmanuel Garcia and IM Ricardo De Guzman and secured the higher tiebreak. He defeated 5 strong opponents namely the French Cobi Francisco, Gio Troy Ventura, Zeus Alexsis Paglinawan, Samantha Babol Umayan and WIM Antonette San Diego (Philippine Women Team).

Throughout the tournament, Coach Ferriol's style was both dynamic and classic, exhibiting a mastery of opening theories and endgame tactics that impressed spectators and peers alike. His reputation as a veteran coach and tactician shone through, as he demonstrated time and again the intricate artistry of the game.
